I realize that for the first time in over half a year I missed my Friday evening blog post. It was not a mistake. I just didn’t feel like posting last night. So here’s my apology, and here’s my excuse for missing upcoming weekly posts.
We are expecting to welcome our third baby in August. We are excited to snuggle a little one again! (We are excited to not be pregnant again…)
I can be counted on for very little when I’m pregnant, especially early pregnant, and I’ve backed out of so many things already, it doesn’t feel so bad to back out of weekly blog posts. I had intended to keep sharing Sisterhood stories through February, but I am missing three I was counting on plus I am saving one to close with. I am still hoping they come, but I am not in any mood to pressure anyone into sending them my way–it’s just a favor to me in the first place after all–so we will all wait together and I will share them as and if I receive them.
Meanwhile, know that if my blog pauses, it is most likely just that–a pause–and when I am feeling more like Alison again, may she once more practice regularly the fine art of creative writing…
In sympathy to creative writing, however, I will share two metaphors I conjured the other day when I was feeling particularly miserable and dejected. Of course, the dramatic self-expression lifted my mood slightly.
Every day is another mountain I must climb; the only breath-taking view at the end is the inside of the toilet.
And another, which my husband, said was not very good:
That gray and evil octopus, nausea, wraps its tentacles all around me, squeezing the joy from my existence.
We know from experience that pregnancy does not last forever, and last time… The view at the end was magnificent! ☺️

15 Feb 2025Congratulations! I’m sorry you have to deal with that ugly octopus 😞. Keep your eyes on that reward! As I enjoy cuddling my 3 month old I keep thinking that this is why we go through it all!
